The Pat Conroy Literary Center will host an in-person visit with New York Times bestselling author Kristin Harmel, author The Forest of Vanishing Stars, on July 19, at 3:00 p.m. Kristin will be introduced by Cassandra King Conroy, best-selling author and honorary chair of the nonprofit Conroy Center.

The Friends of Hunting Island, in partnership with the Pat Conroy Literary Center, will host a drop-in book signing for the newly published coffee table book, Wild Island Nature: Hunting Island State Park and Saint Phillips Island, with author Carol Corbin on Saturday, February 5, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Conroy Center (601 Bladen St., Beaufort).
This free in-person poetry workshop will open with passages written by Pat Conroy that explore his relationship with his mother, Peg Conroy. Participants will then take an active role in reading selected poems by Jamaica Kincaid, Li Young Lee, Dorianne Laux, Kiki Petrosino, Raymod Antrobus, and Sharon Olds for discussion.
Poetry 101 is a free two-part in-person introductory poetry writing workshop led by Charlene Spearen at the nonprofit Pat Conroy Literary Center. Part I will explore not only examples of artistic expression in Conroy’s work but also the art of writing haikus, sonnets, as well as pastoral and ballad poetry as a vehicle of imaginative awareness.
