The Pat Conroy Literary Center, located in Beaufort, S.C., is dedicated to nurturing a diverse community of writers, readers, teachers, and students. Inspired by the life and work of acclaimed and well-loved author Pat Conroy, the Center offers programming and special events that celebrate the transformative power of education and storytelling. The Center envisions a community where every voice matters and sharing stories brings empathy and understanding.
Mission and Vision
Our mission is to cultivate an inclusive environment that honors Pat Conroy’s legacy by offering programs that inspire and educate. We provide a welcoming space for literary engagement, including book groups, writing groups, and master classes in poetry, memoir, and fiction. The Center’s vision is to create a world where every individual’s story is heard and valued, promoting a deeper understanding among diverse communities.

The Center offers year-round workshops, lectures, and festivals for all ages. Named Expedia’s #1 tourist destination in Beaufort, we host over 100 events per year at the Center, with more than 4,000 visitors walking through our door year after year.
