Pat Conroy Literary Center – Beaufort, SC

The Self at the Center of Creativity is a three-part workshop for writers and artists that will include discussions, readings, writing prompts, and activities to stabilize and deepen your creativity and to bring more authenticity and enthusiasm to your own unique creative practice.

Week One (June 4): We will examine the similarities between creative practice and spiritual practice and ways to merge the two, shifting our perspectives from creative product to creative process.

Week Two (June 11): In our second session, we will delve into our known and unknown selves as sources of inspiration and authenticity. We will also discuss concepts of self-care and creative supports to sustain our work.

Week Three (June 18): The senses at play. We will learn strategies and techniques to generate a playful mindset to silence the inner critic and manage the stress of art making.

Registration fee is $100 for the three-part workshop. Register at https://selfatthecenter.bpt.me

This workshop is limited to 10 participants. Two scholarships are available based on financial need. To apply for a scholarship, please email a brief statement (up to 200 words) explaining your financial need to emilydfj@gmail.com by May 27.
